You realize you are crazy, don't you? That's OK. Crazy is a good thing. Keeps life full of zip. Keep on trucking, Brother.

Dear Doug -- Jacques and I have been reading your blog entries with rapt attention. It's heartening to know that you are meeting helpful people along your journey and that you are having little to no difficulty making yourself understood in the French countryside. Hurray for you! I have a couple of questions that you may or may not have time to answer: (1) Have you met any musicians either on the road or at the pensions? (2) Do any of your hosts own cats, dogs or parrots? You haven't mentioned any, so I just wondered. Music and animals are like Esperanto, especially in the world of adventurers, so I'm thinking that you're encountering lots of both on your pilgrimage. On a more mundane note, I do hope that your sox and hiking boots have time to dry thoroughly in between outings. Please thank Dusty for setting up this post box for you. It's a great idea! Much love to you, dear. Mercedes.

I check your entries, Doug, each time I get back to my computer. They are wonderfully personal. It feels like I am "walking the walk" alongside you. Do continue "talking the talk"!

Doug -- Here's hoping that you have enough confidence in your new walking shoes that you've been able to discard your old hiking boots. That would lighten your load considerably. Relieved to hear that you are upgrading your accommodations -- when possible -- and that strangers continue to show kindness towards Pilgrims!I'm staying in close e-mail contact with Mary. She is a woman of indomitable will, but I guess you already know that! Big hugs, Mercedes
